- Location runs as a Foreground Service with a persistent notification; we do not request
ACCESS_BACKGROUND_LOCATION. - We use a small overlay (if enabled) to show urgent booking prompts when the app is not in front.
- We share limited info with riders (name, vehicle, plate, live trip location), and with service providers (maps, messaging, KYC, analytics) to operate the platform.

Scope & Controller
This Policy applies to the Chhoti Gaadi Partner Android app (“Driver App”) and related backend services. “We/Us/Our” refers to Chhoti Gaadi.
Data We Collect
- KYC & Profile: name, photo, phone, email, address, government IDs (as permitted by law), vehicle details, bank/UPI for payouts.
- Precise Location: continuous location while you are set to Online (available) and during active trips for dispatching, navigation, safety, route proof, and ETAs.
- Device & App: device model, OS/app version, app instance IDs, push tokens, and security signals (Firebase App Check – Play Integrity).
- Operational: accept/reject, cancels, trip metrics, earnings/commissions, deposits/wallet dues, ratings/feedback, and support interactions.
- Media You Provide: driver/vehicle/KYC photos and documents you upload. On Android 13+, we use
READ_MEDIA_IMAGES; on older Android, limited legacy storage permissions may apply.
IMPORTANT: Location & Foreground Service Disclosure
- When you toggle Online or start an assigned trip, the app starts a Foreground Service (visible persistent notification) to collect precise GPS for dispatch, navigation, and safety.
- Location stops when you go Offline and end all active trips (or stop the foreground service). We do not use hidden background location.
- After device reboot, we may check your last known availability and restore minimal services to keep your status accurate if you had opted to remain Online. You can change this any time in the app.
Overlays (Display over other apps)
If you grant “Display over other apps”, we may show a small booking prompt overlay when the app is not in front so you don’t miss urgent requests. This is optional and can be turned off in system settings or in-app.
Notifications
We request the Android notifications permission (Android 13+) to send trip offers, status updates, safety alerts, and payouts info. You can manage notification categories in system settings.
How We Use Driver Data
- Onboarding, verification, compliance (including identity/KYC checks) and risk management.
- Real-time dispatch, navigation, route replay for dispute resolution, and safety features.
- Payouts, invoices, tax and accounting, deposits/wallet dues reconciliation.
- Fraud prevention, quality control, training, app improvement, analytics and crash diagnostics.
Sharing
- Riders: first name, photo (if provided), vehicle/plate, ratings, and live trip location during the ride.
- Service Providers: maps & location (Google Maps/Places), messaging & push (Firebase/OneSignal), KYC/verification, payments & banking, analytics/crash/performance tools.
- Legal/Safety: regulators or law enforcement where required, and to enforce our terms or protect users.
We do not sell personal data.
Advertising ID
We do not use the Google Advertising ID by default in the Driver App. If any SDK offers Ad ID, we configure it to be off/not collected for driver operations.
Security
- Transport security (HTTPS/TLS) and server-side access controls.
- Firebase App Check (Play Integrity) to help block unauthorized traffic.
- Principle of least privilege and audit logging on critical actions.
Retention
Operational and financial records are retained as required by law and accounting standards (typically 5–7 years). Trip and device logs may be retained for dispute resolution, fraud prevention, and safety.
Your Rights & Choices
- Access/Correction/Deletion: email support@chhotigaadi.in or submit a request via our Delete Data Request page.
- Location: set Offline to stop trip location collection; you may also stop the Foreground Service from the persistent notification.
- Overlay: revoke “Display over other apps” in system settings.
- Notifications: manage per-channel in system settings.
International Transfers
Your data may be processed on servers or by providers located outside your state/country. We apply appropriate safeguards per applicable law.
Children
The Driver App is not intended for children. We do not knowingly allow persons under applicable legal driving age to use the Driver App.
Updates to This Policy
We may update this Policy to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or laws. Material changes will be highlighted here with a new “Effective” date.
